Aung San Suu Kyi

By Andrew W.

Always fighting for her freedom
Under house arrest for over 10 years
Never gives up
Gifted to do many great things for her country

She was injured during an attack on her car
An inspiring person for her country
Not knowing when you’re going to die

Suu Kyi is her name
Unregretful statements that she made
Understand a little bit more about her

Kindness, caring, trustworthy, and helpful
You can help free her
Ignite her and Burma once more

Revolution

By Alexis U.

Peace can be won
Or it can be lost
Guns are not and never will be the strongest weapon
The human spirit’s ability to change
To forgive past wrongs
I’m calling
We’re calling for a change
A change of mind, body, and soul
A revolution of the spirit
Don’t stop fighting for what you believe
If no one gives in
When everyone gives a little
Peace will reign supreme
Forever
For those that heed and answer my call
The call of millions
Of the world
I thank you
We all thank you

Aung San Suu Kyi

By Cassandra S.

The woman who everybody needs
Lives in Burma
Where no one’s free

She wants freedom and peace
Among her land
But that’s what the military wants the least

People of Burma are taking a stand
And showing the world they are in need
Now it’s our turn to help them, we can all put in a helping hand

As they continue to believe their country can be free
The leader Aung San Suu Kyi is being treated unfairly
I do believe they can be free and the military should let them be

People think the world is free but when you look at Burma
You can clearly see
That is not true and we can help
Help these people and Aung San Suu Kyi

Aung San Suu Kyi
A woman of peace who wants her country free
She’s a believer of nonviolence and that’s the only way
her country will be free

Revolution of the Spirit

By Tyler F.

Revolution
Every one helps
Very civilized
Open to the world
Leader
Under house arrest
Torturous military against her
International help
On top of her fears
Nonviolent

Over looking violent protest methods
Friendly to all

Tough
Helpful
Enthusiastic

Smart

Important leader
Trapped in her own country

This is a poem in honor of the efforts of Aung San Suu Kyi in the country of Burma.  Burma is near Thailand and India.  The country’s military took over the country after Aung San Suu Kyi’s father led them to drive out the British.  They assassinated her father.  Instead of a bloody revolution, Aung San Suu Kyi is calling for a revolution of the spirit, which means there will be no war.  The people with the biggest weapons aren’t always right.  That is Aung San Suu Kyi’s message.

She’s Savin’ Burma!

by Rashad G. and Dalvin N.

Aung San Suu Kyi’s savin’ Burma yeah…she’s savin’ Burma yeah…

Aung San Suu Kyi – ever kind
She always had an open mind
She was brave
She stand tall as a tower

She knows the chances she gon’  take

It’s not like a movie

Now I know life is tough
But Aung San Suu Kyi’s standin’ up
So now I’m standin’ up

Believe in her
Until she gets freedom
Release the prisoners
My country is free- why not hers?

Aung San Suu Kyi
Aung San Suu Kyi

She’s a prisoner in her own country
She is under house arrest
She hasn’t seen her kids in many years

It’s Aung San Suu Kyi
Aung San Suu Kyi

She will only look for the good in you
She’s using all her time to free her own country
She uses nonviolence for everything
So let’s help out
And give her a hand

Suu Kyi, You, and Me

by Sergio P.

Aung San Suu Kyi
She was born happy and free
Used to live in a land of peace and harmony

The new government came in

And said, “we are law”
But Suu Kyi didn’t listen
She didn’t take the fall
She believed in freedom
It was in her eyes

People try to protest
But almost everybody dies
The 8- 8 –88 Massacre
A terrible sight
People’s heads blown off
Oh what a fright
Help us save the world
You don’t have to listen to this song
Write a letter
Tell them right from wrong
Maybe they’ll listen
You never know
Let’s broadcast their evil
Or make a show
You can do it
You can be the next Martin Luther King
And get a new rep
Be a good person
Help the refugees
You never know what can happen
When it’s you and me

A Resistance Woman

By Emani H.

Aung San Suu Kyi was strong
And sung a song
To the people
About civil rights
She told them what was wrong to do
And what was right
Lives in her home
Her sons – all alone

She suffered the pain

And cried
But she got strong
And didn’t die
Tries to do what is right
Didn’t get back what’s right
For these past years
She was in tears
But she has one thing in her heart
And it is NO FEAR
And she’s a resistance woman

Aung San Suu Kyi

By Samantha K.

Aung San Suu Kyi
A flower blooming
For all to see
The beauty of freedom
Violence should not be
A way to get people free

She is a leader of peace

Hoping this oppression will cease
People of Burma are strong
With Aung San Suu Kyi by their side
So many times they have tried
To grasp freedom
Hold it in their hands
Cherish freedom
But will it make up
For the thousands lost
In the fight for freedom?

Suu Kyi is the Key

By Jasmine B.

Aung San Suu Kyi is the key
To leed ‘em to freedom

But the military put her on lock down

Which gave the people a frown

You ask – why don’t they fight back
If they do- they’ll be smacked

So now their fate is in our hands
All they can do is watch while the Man
Takes over their land

And we all know that’s not fair
But the military just don’t care

She Knows What’s Going On

By Viki F. and Shannon C.

Aung San Suu Kyi wants to take back the Golden Land
That was once taken by evil hands

Even in her house she knew
What’s going on
Through her little radio that’s always playing
Where she hears her people crying and praying

She won’t let the military take over forever
Because she thinks of nonviolent solutions that are clever

They came together to make things right
But only with words not a violent fight

The military came and took their freedom away
So now the people of Burma are waiting for the promise day
Now Aung San Suu Kyi resides in her tranquil place
Where the people of Burma can’t see her face

AUNG SAN SUU KYI

By Marielle S.

Aung San Suu Kyi
Under house arrest
Never able to see anyone
Giving rights

Stands up for the people of her country
Always will try to give freedom
Never will surrender

Stays happy even though they imprison her
Unable to be free
Unable to be spoken of in her country

Keeps fighting
Y-does her government keep her under h.a.?
In trouble with the police and government there in Burma

Aung San Suu Kyi

By Marielle S.

Aung San Suu Kyi,
Is a woman who wants everyone to be free
But instead the police and government took
Away that opportunity

So now she is under house arrest,
Waiting to be let go
But she can’t have any friends,
Everyone

She is the woman who stood up
For herself and everyone
Then they locked her up
Like an unwanted toy on the back of the shelf

Aung San Suu Kyi

By Jessica F. and Evelyn B.

Brave and beautiful flower
But it won’t last forever
First when you plant it
It looks nice and pretty
But when it grows old

It will look brown and gritty

This is how life goes
This is the way of Mother Nature

You pick it up and carry it around
